Which Class at Hogwarts Would You Excel at?
brought to you by Quizilla

Arrgh! I'm so tired. Blech. I have to work at one, but now I'm just sitting in my pjs listening to Le Tigre. I would like to be working on my class stuff for Friday, but my brain is full of dust and cobwebs and angry little gnomes... That's what it feels like. My brain is totally resisting productive thought. Some people are morning people and some people are night people, but I have no idea where I fit. I don't like to get up early, but then I really hate to get up late. I usually stay up pretty late, 12:30 or 1 as a general rule. When I was studying it would usually be later than that. I like to be out of the house during the day, or have some sort of project that I'm working on or I feel like some sort of unemployed loser (although I am not unemployed I still feel that way when I am home during the day, like today). If I want to write or study or research something or do any sort of creative work, however, it needs to be dark outside. I guess I am an early evening/late afternoon sort of person.

The kittens look exceedingly comforatble snuggled up together on the bed. Hmm, now I wish I was sleeping. I think I must be under the influence of my flannelette pyjamas. I must now do my best to fight them off and take a shower.

Have a great day everyone!

I think I'm a Wannabe Indie Girl...

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, but I have been battling a nasty icky computer virus which required a reformat and tons of time and lots of re-installing etc. I have also been very busy with work and teaching and my two new cats!! I love cats. Today I am supposed to be marking essays all day...so I have tons of time for blogging;).

As for news...hmmm...as previously mentioned, we have adopted two cats. I suppose they are actually 2 kittens. Gypsy is about 9 months old and Pixel, who moved in two weeks ago, is 2-3 months old. I love them and so does Mike, and, somewhat surprisingly, they seem to love each other. They are both whitish, brownish, greyish tabby cats, and I will post a picture sometime soon. I took a really neat one of Pixel in midair after a ball on a string.

Aside from the stack of essays left to mark my class is done for the semester. It was an awesome experience, and I plan to have another class in the new year. For the moment I have entitled it "The Story Teller" and I have already arranged for a guest speaker.

I am working a lot more hours at the library. Now I shelve, less and less, work at the main circulation desk, and process the new books and make them ready for the shelves. I like processing very much. It is very Zen-like jacketing and stamping and security stripping, and sometimes repairing, books.

A couple of weeks ago Mike and I and some of my friends from work went to see the Great Big Sea concert. It was wonderful! I have wanted to see them in concert for so long, and I was not disappointed. They have so much energy! I am embarassed to admit that I have not bought many of their latest cds, but I think I will now. Mike and I are going to see Rufus Wainwright on Saturday night. Mike surprised me with tickets a few weeks ago. They were sold out within an hour. I can't wait!

I have barely done any Xmas shopping. Any suggestions for a good dad gift?
More soon, I promise...

What Rocky Horror Cast Prop or Costume Piece are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
It's been a bit of a rough week, but things are better now, I think. I had a really nasty work issue on Wednesday. I won't go into it here, but suffice it to say that I have very definitely located the problem in my not getting promoted previously.

Class yesterday was absolutely wonderful. The students are so enthusiastic and lots of fun. My only trouble is that everyone thinks I'm a student because I look and dress young. There was another prof. yesterday who we would like to trade classrooms with. My co-teacher and I met him and were trying to negotiate, and he totally ignored me or looked at me funny anytime I made a comment. It was as if he thought I was crazy. He did not offer his hand to me when he introduced himself. I wonder if this indicates his attitude towards students in general. Finally one of the coordinators introduced us and he was just about to say, "Oh I thought you were a student!" when he thought better of it and just said hi. This all annoys me a little, but I still like to be myself. I don't dress very teacherish, but part of this point of this place is to be informal. I also like to have an opportunity to wear jeans since every other day I have to dress up. Oh well. I get this sort of treatment even when I do dress up, so I guess I should just stop worrying about it and start smiting my enemies regardless...

Dominic took us to ikea the other day. We bought a "bekvam" which is apparently a little wooden serving trolley. It is just the right size for us to keep our microwave on and will free up a little more space for us in the kitchen, hopefully. I also found a great little blue thermos, yay tea!, and a pink "morker" (a lamp for my sewing table). We also got some blue folding chairs, named nick. I'm sorry, but I really get a kick out of the Ikea names for things.

Ooh, ooh, Mike bought me an Aquapet. http://www.myaquapet.com/ They are strangely hypnotic. I have the green one witrh the star/flower on its forehead.

My cute new pink shoes gave me terrible blisters :(.

Today is my first Saturday off in a long time, so I think I'd better go now and enjoy it. We are off to China Town this afternoon. Yay! Have a great weekend everybody.

You're awesome. <3

Which Eddie Izzard line are you?

brought to you by Quizilla

Eddie Izzard Rocks!
The last few days have been kind of strange. I worked all weekend. We had a few stange and aggressive people come in, but there was nothing that we couldn't handle. After work on Sunday Mike and I went over to Jeff's place where we watched dvds and played with his cats. I took all sorts of pictures of Jeff and the cats , much to the annoyance of my companions. Again, when I get around to starting a photobucket account, I will post some. We watched one funny film that pokes fun at 50s b-movies, *rawr*, and then we watched most of Eddie Izzard's _Dress to Kill_ dvd which I bought a couple of weeks ago but had not been able to watch. *I love you Eddie!* (Tee hee)

At work my supervisor just told me that I am no longer allowed to wear open-toed shoes because I handle heavy books and push around large carts and therefore might injure my toes. Right. I asked if I should then get some steel-toed boots. Somehow I don't think those would coincide with the dress code, and so last night I went downtown to buy shoes. Weirdly enough I didn't really have a pair of closed-toe shoes that I could wear for long periods of walking. Though I love shoes, I hate buying them because I find it so hard to find any that fit properly. I think it is because I have one foot that is longer than the other. I ended up buying a pair of bright pink flats with leather flowers on them, from Payless (I have been looking at them for weeks), and a pair of black doc-like shoes as well. I plan to get another pair of the flower shoes in black when the new shipment comes in on Wednesday.

My freelance work is done now, so all I have to worry about is my class stuff. I feel as though a weight has been taken off my shoulders. I will have so much more free time now. I think I'll write a book, and play Nintendo;).

Have a great day everybody!

What SPIRITED AWAY Character Are You Like
brought to you by Quizilla

I had quite a nice partial day off today. This morning's class was really fun. I am starting to find a place for myself, and that makes me feel a lot better. Today when we separated into our reading groups things were a little quiet at first, but they soon picked up. I find it very interesting to see how the classroom dynamic is unfolding (can a dynamic unfold?). There are some students who seem to be more comfortable with me and others with my co-teacher. It's fascinating.

Yesterday I bought the Prince of Persia game for Gamecube, and I really love it. It is very pretty, the action is very fluid, and the storyline is lots of fun. It involves lots of running up walls and other sorts of acrobatics, which are sort of complicated, but there is also a lot of sword fighting. It's really kind of cute because the premise is that the main character is telling his story, and so every time you fall off a cliff he says, "No, no, that didn't really happen, let me start again." It is strangely satisfying.

Today I wore that black "scaredy cat" shirt that I bought at Old Navy a couple of weeks ago and thought was too tight. To tell you the truth, I didn't look half bad. ;) It was very comfortable and allowed me to wear a bunch of black jelly bracelets. *Glee*

After the class, and the meeting I had to go to :(, Mike and I went out to Dunn's for lunch and did a little shopping. I bought myself a very nifty crochet book with all of the basic stitches and some really cool projects including a set of nesting baskets that make me think of the blue and white pottery that my grandmother had. I have discovered that I was indeed crocheting incorrectly. I am nevertheless going to keep what I was making, incorrectly, and use it for something else. We went to the Dollarama, my favourite place ever since they stocked shrinky dinks a few weeks ago, and bought two pink bowls for our kitten. They have little grey cartoon kitties on them, you know, just so there is no confusion about whose bowls they are. I also bought a bunch of dollarama Halloween stuff. I am a big sucker for Halloween things. I got a really neat rubber evil pumpkin mask, a bunch of green glow-in-the-dark skeleton ornaments, an inflatable pumpkin man, and an inflatable Dracula (this last one was fate :D).

Haku, You are strong, brave and good, but you
aren't the brightest crayon in the box. You
can be easily manipulated, but luckily your
good friends keep you out of harm's way most of

Which Fraggle Rock Character Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla
Nothing too exciting at the moment. We are waiting for the concierge to finish fixing our kitchen sink. I will be so happy for this to be done; especially given that now the appartment smells like rotten eggs from the chemicals he is using. Ick!
I just finished marking all the essays, and yesterday I finished reading the _Dracula_ chapters, so today I can relax a little before our class tomorrow. As soon as this drain is fixed we are off to Dunn's, or somewhere, for some lunch. I am soo hungry.

I think I may also be a crochet idiot savant. I have been working for a few days on this thing that is supposed to be just a simple rectangle. Somehow I have managed to make it into a coil that forms a perfect circle when I put it together. I am pretty sure that I know where I went wrong, but I think I would like to keep it this way and make it into a little round rug. I couldn't have done it better if I'd tried. I am probably doing something totally legitimate without knowing it. I guess I will just have to go to Chapters and buy myself a How-To book. :D

Catra
Catra. You are the villainess with catlike powers.
You have a short fuse, that no one should mess

Which She- ra Villainess Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla
We are still waiting to hear about the kitten. Notice the cat themed quizzes above ;). I woke up with a headache this morning, which is always fun. Ow. It is a sort of sinus headache, I think, which has been brought on by all of this weird Fall weather as well as the stuffy air and heating system at work.

My schedule just gets weirder and weirder. I am never sure when I will be working in a given week. We have just hired some more shelvers but they are just starting so they haven't many shifts yet. It seems that I am working every day but Friday this week and that day I am teaching in the morning and have a school meeting in the afternoon. No rest for the wicked. I am supposed to get my Saturday mornings, and therefore my whole Saturday, off eventually, but so far I have no idea when that will start. I hope it's soon.

At the moment the fridge is still in the hall because we are not sure that we can move it ourselves, and our kitchen sink seems to be backed up. It has been a little clogged recently, but two nights ago I went to bed with an empty sink and woke up with a full one. Something is amiss. It' s just one damn thing after another with this appartment. I hope we can find a nice new appartment to move into as soon as our lease is up. Okay, have a great day everyone and now back to _Dracula_.
